Alliant Credit Union Foundation recently donated money to Special Olympics Illinois on behalf of Alliant Credit Union's employee volunteers participating in a unique contest held at O'Hare International Airport.
The 2nd Annual Plane Pull was held to raise both money and awareness for a very worthy cause. A team of 20 Alliant employees called the "Alliant Advantage" was one of nearly 30 teams from Chicago area public safety, service and business communities who pulled a 99-ton UPS cargo aircraft 20 feet in a tug-of-war style event.

The Foundation contributed by paying the $50 registration fees for the 20 participating Alliant employees via a $1,000 check to Special Olympics, Illinois. Additionally, pledges were made by friends and family of several Alliant team members, according to Alliant Advantage team captain Angelica Garcia. "Moving that plane gave us quite a feeling of accomplishment," she added, "along with the good feeling of helping Special Olympics."

David W. Mooney, Alliant Credit Union President & CEO and President of the Foundation, saluted participating Alliant employees and said, "Our Foundation is delighted to donate to such a worthy cause as Special Olympics, and we especially like supporting the volunteerism of our credit union's employees."

Alliant Credit Union Foundation is based in Chicago at the Headquarters of Alliant Credit Union, near O'Hare Airport at Touhy Avenue and Wolf Road. Celebrating its 75th year of service, Alliant is America's seventh largest credit union in asset size with over $7 billion in assets and nearly 260,000 members nationwide. The credit union's members include employees, family members and retirees of United Airlines and other select employee groups around the country, and qualifying communities in the Chicago area.
Alliant Credit Union Foundation was established in 2009 through a $4 million grant from the credit union.
